It’s been so long since I have posted on this blog! Life gets in the way, I guess…3 kids require lots of time, LOL! The theme this week at i heart faces is “Motherhood” and I thought I’d post this photo of where it all begins. Incidentally, the baby in this mama’s belly, now 6 months old, is having a major surgery today, for his Craniosynostosis. He should be fine, but has both a long surgery and recovery ahead of him.

It’s been sooo long since I’ve made a blog post! I seem to suffer from major lack of time lately ;-) I do, however, seem to have time for facebook (mostly when I should be cleaning my house), which is where I found the link to this great blog. I absolutely LOVE Florabella’s actions, so I just had to enter this! This is a picture I took of my sister, who is getting married next year. We did a bridal shoot with her horses and I got this great close-up of her face. I used a Canon 85mm 1.2 lens on my 50D and used the Florabella actions Ambrosia and Center Fill Light during processing in PSE 7.

You Capture - Vehicles

The You Capture theme this week at i should be folding laundry is “Vehicles” so I had to participate because my sister-in-law bought this very cool car this week. She let me drive it and I relived my younger, pre-minivan days…I’m only 28, but my van and my 3 kids make me feel pretty old sometimes! ;-)

These are all SOOC, as I shot my first wedding this past weekend and have had zero time to edit these!

I wish I had gotten some shots at night…you can change the ambient lighting in this car almost any color you want – it’s so cool!

You Capture - America

The theme this week at i should be folding laundry is “America.” Fitting, of course, since this past weekend was the 4th of July. I had the pleasure this week of photographing this family. We are the land of the free and the home of the brave because of people like the father of these children, a soldier who has been deployed multiple times and will be deployed again this fall.

I should say, in this first pic, that the kids are actually standing behind a real flag...it's not something I photoshopped in...

Water!

The You Capture theme this week at i should be folding laundry is water, something there is no shortage of around here right now! We live very near the Missouri River, which is flooding at the moment. These photos are from earlier today, but I know that some of these places already look completely different – everything will be much worse by tomorrow. We used to live on the bottom, but moved to the hills about 2 years ago…thank God! Please keep everyone else in your prayers though, as a lot of people in our area will be affected by this flood.

He insisted we were having a girl my whole pregnancy, even though we didn’t know which we were having, and he loved her before he met her. I love the look of love on his face.

You Capture – A Moment

This week’s “You Capture” theme at i should be folding laundry is “A Moment.” One week ago today I had my beautiful new baby girl. We knew she was coming, as it was a scheduled c-section, but we didn’t know she was a “she” as we wanted to keep that a surprise. As soon as one of the doctors said they saw lots of hair, I just knew…both of my boys were completely bald. Needless to say, we’ve had lots of moments in the last week…here are a few…

My husband took these two of her first moments…

Here is another moment in the hospital… My little family…She is already much loved by her brothers…A “smiley” moment with my grandma…Daddy’s first moment dressing his little girl…65 degrees the day she was born and 2 days later we came home to this…Her first bath at home…The boys had to watch the second bath…I love these moments…My oldest showing her the doll he bought her…My 19-month-old’s first time holding her…he is now obsessed!He thinks she always needs a paci too!A girly moment…my oldest son keeps putting bows in her hair, “so she’ll look pretty”… A sleepy moment on Grandma’s shoulder… And finally, a rare moment where both boys were sitting quietly!

You Capture - Hopeful

This week’s You Capture theme at i should be folding laundry is “Hopeful”. I’m hopeful for so many things right now…2 weeks from today I’ll be having our third baby, so I’m hopeful for a safe delivery and healthy babe (didn’t get around to any belly pictures this week though, darn it!) Here are some other “Hopeful” subjects for me:

Brothers…I hope they’ll always love each other this much…

…and that the oldest will always be patient enough to listen to his little brother… This shot is pretty boring, but a couple days ago this was solid white, so the mud makes me hopeful for spring…The oldest gets to play outside again…something I’ve really been hoping for! Meanwhile the youngest, who’s had the croup all week, is hopeful he’ll get to go outside soon too…(don’t mind the dirty window…the cats won’t leave it alone!) Here’s our dog, Joe, hopeful for some attention…(he got it a few minutes later when my son pretended his ears were wings and flapped them up and down…Joe’s a really good dog!) The cats, hopeful the oldest will feed them when I’m not looking……and this one hopeful the youngest will let her in (sorry kitty!) Another one of Joe…no snow in sight and the fact that he is laying outside instead of in his beloved insulated doghouse makes me hopeful for spring too! And finally, we got new gravel on our driveway today, so I’m hopeful my van will stay a little cleaner now! The oldest decided he’d start spreading it around before Daddy came home ;-)

Hands-On Fun

The theme this week at i♥faces is “Hands-On Fun” and it’s one of those themes that doesn’t require a face in the photo, although the pic I chose has one. It’s been forever since I posted anything…I’m so pregnant and uncomfortable right now that sleep usually always sounds better than anything else! I thought I would do it this week though, so I’m getting this one in just under the wire. This is my 1 year old son praying before supper…this is how he started holding his hands when we say the prayer and I love it because it’s exactly how my 4 year old son held his hands when he first started praying.

“We Are Family”

This week’s challenge at i♥faces is “We Are Family”. This is my good friend and her family…they’re HUGE Oklahoma football fans. I did a family photo shoot for them and it wasn’t complete until we got some shots with their Oklahoma sweatshirts on. I don’t do too many photos black and white with color, but I thought it really made the red stand out on this one. (Note: to non-Oklahoma fans – I have no preference for sports teams, this is just a pic of my friends!)

Okay, I know You Capture at i should be folding laundry was last Thursday, but my internet hasn’t been working and I had all these pictures I took last week of “winter” around my house, so I am posting this REALLY late! We’ve had a cool frost a couple times in the last week, so most of these are of that, but they all have one thing in them – lots of SNOW!

“Hilarious Outtakes”

It’s “Hilarious Outtakes” week at i♥faces and we’re allowed to enter up to 5 photos this time. Here are a few of mine:

This one’s my oldest son at the end of one of our photo shoots…he was done with pictures!

This is from that same shoot, for our Christmas cards…the youngest is doing one of his screams “just because” and the oldest is making one of his typical faces…

Next we have my oldest talking to himself in the bathroom mirror, unaware Mom is taking pictures…

This one’s from our trip to Chicago…I was TRYING to get a nice shot of my hubby and son at Navy Pier…

Finally we have a shot from a family photo shoot I did for a friend…the little boy wasn’t feeling well and didn’t want to smile, so we had his dad start throwing leaves at them, and the baby girl was shoveling leaves in her mouth as fast as she could…I’m not sure how many she ate that day!

Pets Only!

It’s “Pets Only!” week over at i♥faces. I was really torn as to which photo to enter this week…I have so many pics of animals and thought of entering one in particular that is a much better quality photo than this one, but decided in the spirit of Christmas to enter this photo taken during our Christmas card shoot. I know the title says “Pets Only” but I figured since Angie's post had a human face in it, it was okay ;-). This is “Skip” the horse and my two little boys…we had been taking pictures for quite awhile when I took this one – I think Skip was getting tired of being a reindeer (especially since I did this same photo shoot 3 years ago when my oldest was the age of my youngest) and probably tired of screaming, bouncing boys! All day I swear I could see her thinking “Didn’t I do this 3 years ago? The stupid reindeer antlers were humiliating enough once…at least she didn’t make me wear the blinking nose again (only because I couldn’t find it!)…and look, the dumb broad’s pregnant again…look out in 3 more years!”

Sweet Dreams

It’s “Sweet Dreams” week over at i♥faces. I wish I had a photo of myself sleeping, but sadly those don’t exist as my 16 month old has never slept through the night and I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant! Ha! This is a photo of my youngest…I was on the phone with a friend when he was ready for his nap and I guess he got tired of waiting because he just fell asleep on the kitchen floor. Notice the extra pacifier…you can’t see it in this shot but there is a third one on the other side of his head. He likes to carry as many extras around as possible!

You Capture – My Happy Story

The theme this week at I Should Be Folding Laundry is “Your happy story” – whatever makes you happy. So much makes me happy, especially this time of year – I’m happy that my house smells like a pine tree and that I’m listening to Christmas music as I type this – that it would be impossible to show pics of it all. Soooo, here are some pics of what makes me happiest – my wonderful little family (which includes the hubby, but he’s not in these), shown during our Christmas card photo shoot I did this week.

These 2 little boys make me happy every day… This one made me happy first… Then came this one…And I’m happy that he will also be a BIG brother next spring… Little cute Wrangler tooshies make me happy… Horses dressed as reindeer for Christmas card shoots make me happy (even if it didn’t make her happy!)…I’m happy that my boys are such, well, BOYS…Me: “Stop spitting!”Him: “I just need to spit on the ground!”Then, of course… the other one starts…And he’s a screamer too!…. Finally, it makes me happy that, after so many pictures turned out like these… …and my oldest was tired of pictures……okay Mom, one more……we finally got a couple of decent ones for the Christmas card :-)

It’s Sun Flare Week at I♥Faces. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE sun flare! I have some pretty cool star-shaped flare in a previous post, but, alas, they don’t contain a face, which is a requirement for I♥Faces (can’t imagine why!) This is a photo of a friend I took senior pictures for…I convinced her to wear her prom dress for some pics with her cute little Arabian mare.

This week’s theme for You Capture over at I Should Be Folding Laundry is Sunrise/Sunset. We’ve had a week of snow and yucky weather here, so I had to use pics I had previously taken…so here is a completely random assortment of some of my sunrise/sunset photos from the last couple of months. I know that’s not the point of these challenges, to use photos from your archives, but I’m new to all of this and really wanted to participate – sorry! The first two are sunrise and the rest are sunset :-)

The next three are Chicago at sunset…

And this final one is “Sunset” because it’s a tree in our backyard and the heart in it only shows up like this at sunset…

“Autumn Beauty”

It’s “Autumn Beauty” week over at IHeartFaces. I’m looking out my window at several inches of snow at the moment, but I did take some pictures before we had this crazy weather.
